IFAJ president Markus Rediger might be excused for suffering a little jetlag after his visit “Down Under” in September-October.
By the time he returns home to Switzerland, he will have covered more than 50,000 km on a journey around Australia and then on to New Zealand for the 2015 IFAJ World Congress.
Australia is a pretty big country and the Congress pre-tour event Hot Tropics is in Cairns in the far north.
So Markus has accepted an invitation by the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists, ACAJ, to pay a flying visit to the four interstate rural press clubs before venturing north to Queensland.
“It presents a great opportunity for our world leader to meet members scattered right across the country,” said tour organiser and ACAJ treasurer Gordon Collie.
“They will be very interested to hear from Markus about his day job with the Swiss Agricultural Communication Centre, LID, and his passion for rural communication.
“The Swiss approach of supporting an independent group of professionals to promote positive messages about agricultural through the media is a very interesting one.
We have nothing quite like it in Australia,” Gordon said.
