Full membership in IFAJ is open to any national association of agricultural journalists that supports the principle of freedom of the press as defined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
Affiliate membership in IFAJ is open to organisations that share with IFAJ the common interests in agriculture, professional development and international co-operation, but who cannot classify themselves as a ‘national association of agricultural journalists’ or are in some way unable to declare their support for freedom of the press.

Annual membership fee is €7.00 per individual member of each association that is a full member of IFAJ, and €3.50 for affiliate members and for countries with gross national income per person less than $8,000 USD.
